Contrubutor’s Notes
Emdash AKA Emily Lu Gao is a queer spoken word poet, writer, educator, open mic host, hoot, and daughter of Chinese immigrants. Her writing is published in poetry.online, sine theta, Underblong, Kissing Dynamite, The Bellingham Review, Mochi Magazine, The Rumpus, YLWRNGR and more. She has featured at The San Diego Art Institute, ACLU San Diego, Sunday Jump, Unnameable Books and elsewhere. She has received funding from Bread Loaf Environmental Writers’ Conference, Jersey City Arts Council, and Minnesota Northwoods Writers Conference. They earned a dapper MFA in Poetry from Rutgers-Newark, and also learned a ton from the SoCal spoken word poetry community. She lives on Munsee Lenape Land (“Jersey City, NJ”). When not writing, you can find her listening to a comedy podcast or telling one too many jokes.
